The temperatures outside are definitely rising, and with that in mind, I wanted to share these delicious and super easy slushy-style drinks. Rather than purchasing unhealthy ice cream or overpriced popsicles at the store, you can easily make some iced treats of your own.
The drinks I’ve shown here are simple. I made them without alcohol in them, so I could enjoy them any time of the day, but you can also add some rum or vodka to any of these flavors and also have a really fun cocktail for the warmer days ahead.
MAKE THEM AHEAD OF TIME
I would recommend making these the morning of or the night before you’re going to want to enjoy them. I often just keep the various flavors in my freezer, and grab a few bites or a cute little glass full whenever I need something sweet! Forget about that late night ice cream trip calling you to the store, these will already be in your freezer waiting for you! And, the best part is that they’re actually good for you. Although they of course have a bit of sugar in the various fruit juices, they can be healthier than a lot of store bought treats and taste amazing. You can use the recipes I have provided below, of simply freeze your favorite, all natural fruit juices, and see which you wind up liking the best.
INGREDIENTS FOR EACH OF THE 4 FLAVORS:
Mix each one in a container that holds at least 4-4 cups. And, make sure your containers are safe for the freezer.
Flavor 1: In the yellow cup – Grapefruit Creamsicle – 3 C. grapefruit juice, ½ C. almond milk or coconut milk + 1-2 Tbsp. Agave Syrup to balance the grapefruit juice.
Flavor 2: In the orange cup – Pineapple Coconut Cream – 2 C. Pineapple Juice, 1 C. Vanilla Yogurt, 1 C. Cream of Coconut or Coconut Milk.
Flavor 3: In the aqua cup – 1 ½ C. fresh or frozen strawberries, 1 C. vanilla yogurt, ½ C. Pineapple Juice, 1 C. Frozen Raspberries
Flavor 4: In the pink cup – Peach Green Tea – brew peach flavored green tea and let cool. 3 C. Peach Green Tea, ½ C. (or a bit less) of Agave Syrup.
Once each flavor is mixed in its respective freezer safe container, free for at least 4-5 hours, and once fully frozen, use a fork to carefully scrape each flavor up, creating a shaved ice look. Pour into your favorite glasses and serve, or, keep these in the freezer and grab a healthy snack whenever your heart desires!
